Initial Coding

To set my color palette for this skin design, I copied a significant section of the CSS from the "Fresh Purple Heart" skin (found in Runboard Support).

Re: Initial Coding

Just curious ... but can you use Thor's coding within the CSS/HTML boxes? I mean, if you knew what his unique coding was?

Or, maybe I should have asked if Thor could use his unique coding within the CSS/HTML boxes? And if so, would it be able to do things that CSS and HTML wouldn't be able to do?

I get that it's safer if only Thor knows what his unique code is ... but I can't help but wonder if you could do so much more with the boards if you knew the code and how to manipulate it.

What would be really super cool, is if you could design your own unique code, and if Thor could allow for it to be used within the CSS/HTML boxes ... and that it might/could increase the possibilities of designs, and be even stronger against hacking.

Just a thought I needed to put out there, or it would have kept me awake tonight. emoticon emoticon

Re: Initial Coding

Here is how it works.

Skin design falls under "front end" coding. What Thor does is set the foundation via "backend coding." I can manipulate the results of what Thor's coding does as far as the look and placement are concerned but cannot alter any of his codes functions.

What 3rd party people can do is add functionality using iframes in the HTML side, which is how I have a clock on the Design Elements board and how LG adds the "Quick Reply" and "Page Jump" functions to existing Runboards.

Cool. Thanks for the explanations. I was just wondering if there was a way to do more things than can be done right now. And to make it still much safer than other websites.

Which ... isn't a bad idea ... if anyone could do like Thor and create their own special code to use on their website to guarantee their site's safety on the WWW. If I was clever at coding, I think I would give it a go. I've seen a number of sites get hacked, and it would be nice to have something unique to me.
